DS // CUPPA PHASE 4

CUPPA is a hypothetical tea house. Located in Kansas City, MO it is a no frills tea house but a place of comfort and sophistication. Patrons can enjoy sitting down and remember what it's like to appreciate the company of others and be involved in a conversation with friends and family. The experience of drinking fine tea at CUPPA is a leisurely experience.

Using the colors black, white, and gold give the impression that  CUPPA is a sophisticated place, but the gold hints at the traditionalism that one will experience. The clean and simple typography for the brandmark is straight and to the point. By centering it in the middle of the circle it demonstrates the bold attention that CUPPA has. It insinuates the experience a patron will have at the tea house.

The simplicity and use of white space throughout the touch points illustrates the fresh and clean environment, but by adding the fields of black it gives a moment of contrast as well as representing a concept that CUPPA is a place where a person can sit, stay, and take their time. The design represents the traditionalism with the moments of contrast defining CUPPA's contemporary take on the traditional experience of drinking tea.

DS // CUPPA PHASE 3

I was excited for this phase. It was however, one of the most difficult. Creating fluidity throughout the system is a challenge. This phase the design elements such as the logo that I thought I had set in stone, once applied to different platforms needed to be changed. I really wanted to use black, white, and gold. But using gold in the right places rather then relying on it, I learned that it was better to have it as more of a detail moment. I think that my design and the products I created for CUPPA encompass my attributes which are sophistication, leisure, comfort, tradition, and refreshment.

PACKAGING.

I want to create packaging. Versions of different tea that CUPPA would offer. Either a jar, tin, box system that would available for purchase. I also want to have a jar/tin for purchase for people to bring back in with them to buy the tea. First and foremost CUPPA is a tea house, but patrons have the tea that they drink available for purchase. Most tea stores use tins for loose leaf tea so that they can reuse it when they need to refill their tea.

DS // PHASE 2

For my tea house concept I decided to use the name CUPPA, but still include the handwritten elements. I really tried to focus on merging certain idea together. After the last critique it seemed that there were elements from all of them that seemed to work. The name CUPPA resignation best with my idea and that this whole idea came from a British idea. Through my attributes I want to get across that CUPPA is a place for anyone. Even if a person is a tea lover, they can still go to CUPPA with friends and family and enjoy themselves. It is based on the experience that they are getting and the atmosphere and products they are seeing when they go the tea house.
For the design I wanted to do something that is very simple, graphic, and has a feeling of sophistication. The black and gold give a feeling of confidence that a person would probably not associate with tea. Of course there are many more elements to design and create, but I started with some of the first things a person would see or pay attention to, the store front and probably the menu whether that be from online or when they are greeted inside.

My next step... find a printer that can do gold printing!

TEA HOUSE // cards & webpages

#2

#3

I would like to make cards that can be written on or have some interaction
with the customer. That being their next "tea time" or it be able to given to a friend as a type of invite.

This particular site is An interactive that appears as if it is a table at the tea house/restaurant.
As the viewer scrolls over the objects info about the tea house would appear.
Examples:
Tea>products
Milk> freshness...
Newspaper> media...
Menu> enlarges prices...
Sugar> explains atmosphere
pocket watch> hours...

BRANDING INSPIRATION

A little branding inspiration for us all. Makes me miss the Olympics! I can't imagine getting to work on a project as immense as something like branding the Rio 2016 Olympics! When they say "it will be the most looked at the logo in the world for a period of time..." it reminds me that a branding system for the Olympics need to  register with the world not just a specific group of people for a certain one product.
